We arrived in Chicago on Friday (Dec. 29) at about noon, having left from Buffalo the previous evening at midnight (actually at 1 am, because the train was delayed en route from NYC for an hour by “border patrol”—huh? this is like Old Nahampkin being younger than Young Nahampkin). Anyway, it was our first over-night train trip of the vacation (my first ever!), so we were excited and had difficulty getting to sleep. Also, there was a lot of mystery rattling in our roomette, which made sleeping challenging. Still, we were very happy to have made it to Chicago with all of our stuff in tow. John is standing outside of Chicago’s Union Station with the luggage. This is our first exposure to “the windy city”—woo hoo!
